RATIONALE

ClimateAMBASSADORS is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership project that responds to the growing climate crisis and the urgent need to strengthen digital, green and civic competences within Higher Education (HE).

The project brings together Higher Education Institutions, climate experts, digital innovation providers and civic organisations from Italy, Spain, Germany, Cyprus, Poland, Iceland and Belgium to address the challenges of the twin transition: green and digital. It recognises the key role of universities in preparing future professionals who are not only technically skilled, but also socially responsible, climate-aware and actively engaged in their communities.

ClimateAMBASSADORS combines innovative digital learning tools, such as immersive XR simulations based on real-life climate change case studies, with accredited academic learning and hands-on civic engagement. Through a new ECTS-accredited multidisciplinary course and the implementation of ClimateAMBASSADORS Living Labs, students are empowered to understand climate risks, explore adaptation and mitigation strategies, and take action at local and regional level.

Aligned with the EU Green Deal, the EU Adaptation Strategy, the Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027) and key EU education policies, the project promotes experiential learning, community resilience and transnational cooperation. Its outcomes are designed to be transferable and scalable, benefiting not only Higher Education but also VET, adult education and youth sectors across Europe.
